Two Types of Stem Cells: Adult and Embryonic
Even if there will be a little magic bottle filled with potion that cures some of our most serious diseases, as a result of stem cell research, we need to understand one major point. Embyonic stem cell research takes a life in its earliest stages and adult stem cell research does no harm to any living thing.

Anytime Hollywood goes full throttle with a political issue, we should at least wonder. Remember when abortion was only going to be for rape or incest? And when homosexuals wanted to be tolerated and simply treated fairly? Pandora needs to stay in her proverbial box on this embyonic stem cell issue. (She's already busted out in California)

The attitude I have run into, even with other pro-life folks is, "Hey, if it'll get people like Christopher Reeve out of a wheel chair, why wouldn't we?" And my response is, "Why even consider taking a life when there is another way to accomplish the same medical goals?"

What I've really learned is people don't understand the issue (Much like the definition of marriage), so they don't want to oppose something they don't understand. When most people learn that research can be done just as easily using adult stem cells they ask, "Then why are we even trying to promote the use of embryonic stem cells?" Why, indeed!

Relieved. . .
The VP debate is over and the argument has begun regarding who won. I am so relieved that Dick Cheney did such a nice job. My heart ached for Bush last week. He just doesn't think fast on his feet and neither do I. I can think of the most brilliant comebacks--tomorrow when it's too late. I wanted to help him and think I even yelled suggestions at the TV a few times.

Then when the polls began reflecting that Americans had been swayed, I was sick. It brought back the memories of so many corporate battles I had been a part of. Slick talkers taking over everything because they sound like they know what they're doing, when they really don't. Another Bush empathy point is debating one who spins the truth when you don't, its really tough to win the argument.

The world is indeed set up for the quick-thinking extroverts. We do need them, but organizations are healthier with a balance of both.

I got three take-aways from Edwards. "They have a plan." They never have time to tell you what it is, but "they have a plan" for everything. I hope someone goes back to the debate tape and counts the number of times he said this phrase. Secondly, I found his nursery rhyme framing of phrases a little insulting to anyone of average intelligence. "We stood with the American people. They stood with the drug companies" Give me a break. Finally, when anyone has to keep labeling their words as true, being honest or telling the truth, it makes me nervous. I assume you're telling me the truth, so when you label it, I wonder if the other stuff you said was not true.

I'm so tired of the mud slinging, but think I see a clear difference in how the two major sides would fight the war on terror. The Democrats only believe in going after those terrorists who directly attacked us. The Republicans believe in going after all terrorists and those who harbor them.

The domestic economy is already improving and will get better after the election is over. Taxes, the debt, and health care really need attention.

Take Two Bat Spits And Call Me In The Morning
Scientists might have discovered a successful key ingredient for medicine given to stroke patients: Bat spit. I have a few questions. How do they collect the spit? Perhaps they place little spitoons around the cave and collect them the next morning when the bats go to sleep.

Who thinks of such possible cures? Did a bat spit on grandma and her speech returned?

And finally, will the bat spit remedy be considered a natural medicine or will it be subject to a bat spit regulatory board? Since I'm looking for a job, let me know if you hear of any openings on the bat spit regulatory board.

Seriously, even though it sounds strange, I hope they have found something that helps.
